Station Approach - Trust welcomes City Council's decision to review development
/June 2021 - The City Council has decided to pause development at Station Approach in the light of COVID-19. Their website states:
“There will need to be a review of future market demand for, and any changed approaches to, offices and other uses post Covid-19. A review of the approach to the Carfax site is currently underway in light of Covid-19 and the quashing of the Outline Planning Permission (granted in September 2019) in December 2019.”
The Trust is convinced that there are much better townscape solutions for development within the Station Approach area, and in particular on the Carfax site. To look at this in more detail, the Trust has set up a small group of architects, planners and urban designers to prepare an outline brief for more sympathetic and sustainable development. We hope to work collaboratively with the City Council and that the outcome of the review results in a sustainable proposal that can be supported by the community, local residents and stakeholders.
The Trust has produced a Q & A on the background to proposed development in the Station Approach area and our concerns about the scheme put forward by the City Council that was granted planning permission last year. Click here to read the Q & A.
