City of Winchester Trust
Three examples of LDP Planning Developments rently granted permits

Three Examples of development recently granted permits, which panel members would have objected to (their comments are included in the PAG report.)

1 8/00776/LDP 6 St Leonards Road SO23 OQD.

proposal: The installation of 3no. rooflights to the front roof pitch. The creation of a dormer to the rear roof.

6 St Leonards
.

comments: This unacceptable extension, lacking style and proportion, destroys the character of the dwelling and imposes itself on the neighbouring house.

The Trust therefore STRONGLY OBJECTS to this proposal.

2 18/00765/LDP 33 Vernham Road SO22 6BS

proposal: Proposed roof alterations from hip to gable, addition of a rear dormer and installation of roof lights to facilitate loft conversion.

Vernham Road
.

.

comments: This extensive and monstrous addition changes the style of the dwelling out of recognition and compromises the character of this neighbourhood.

The Trust therefore STRONGLY OBJECTS to this proposal and feels that such an application by LDP should not be supported, as it appears there is abuse for the integrity of planning and design.

3 18/00877/LDP 30 Rowlings Road SO22 6

proposal: Installation of 1 front-facing rooflight. Erection of rear-facing roof dormer

Rowlings Road

comments: This is arguably one of the worst examples of an LDP application. The dormer is monstrously out of scale; it destroys the roof line and any semblance of design those houses may have possessed, let alone what it contributes to the character of the neighbourhood.
