The City of Winchester Trust Ltd

For City of Winchester Trust Viewing Panels

1. Are the drawings readily understandable?

Do they give enough information (including details where these are important)?

Do they show new work in context?

Do they show the whole façade where a shopfront is involved?

Do they provide realistic views – preferably street perspectives?

We should criticise failure in any of these respects.

2. Is the scheme in character with Winchester?

3. Is any demolition involved, and if so, is it justified?

4. Is the design composed and in context?

5. Are traditional materials and structures used? If not, are the new proposals good enough to justify a change?

6. Does the scheme maintain the road frontage?

7. Are any trees to be felled or endangered?

8. Have opportunities been taken to introduce new indigenous trees?

9. Are there interesting and well-designed spaces in new development?

10. Have unnecessary concessions been made for vehicles?

11. Have views of, into, from or over the scheme been considered?

12. Do the panels’ comments take account of current Trust policies?
